There are many festivals in Valencia during September and many are in the villages and towns in the surrounding areas. Don’t forget to pop into Cafe del Duende near the Turia Gardens for some excellent flamenco (see end of page).

Javea Fiesta Mare de Deu de Loreto
22 August – 8 September 2014
The festival starts on 22 August in the town of Javea and ends on the 8 September.
This annual event honors the Mare de Déu de Loreto with parades, flower offerings, chess competitions, street theater, a paella contest and much more.
Sueca Paella Festival
14 September 2014
Every year the Valencian town of Sueca hosts a 10 day Rice Festival and all the dishes must be cooked with rice grown in the region of La Albufera (the birthplace of paella) just 12km from the center of Valencia.
The competition attracts paella lovers from all over the country and the paella contest is held on the last day of the festival. A giant paella is cooked for all to enjoy.
Fiesta de la Tapa
11 – 14 September 2014
Veles e Vents building plays host to the fifth edition of Valencia’s Tapa fair organized by Mahou San Miguel – the taste of Spain and a truly lovely beer.
There will be 24 restaurants and bars offering quality tapas at very popular prices.
Opening hours: Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday: noon-4 :30 pm and 8 p.m – midnight.
Prices : 1 euro beers ,water and sodas. 1,5 euro each tapa. 2 euro premium beers.
The organization offers a free bus shuttle bus leaving from Xativa metro station in Calle Xátiva (opposite Estacion del Norte and the Bullring). The Royal Marina is easy to get to by bus, bike, tourist bus or tram.

Oktoberfest Olé! Fiesta de la Cerveza!
From 13:00 noon to 1:30 am.
The 9th edition of the Oktoberfest Olé! is held at the Plaza de Toros in Valencia.
This edition of Oktoberfest Olé! 2014 will have two college parties, and many other fun-filled theme parties such as eurosalchicha and brewmaster party with special pricing promotions from beer to traditional sausages and gigantic alemanas.
- This year there will be a special promotion at noon. Enjoy a menu in true German style from € 8.50 Monday to Saturday 13:00 to 16:00 (except Sundays and holidays).
There will be a traditional live band playing popular Bavarian folklore themes alternated with international hits MAGUI- singing the great female voice of the orchestra.
MarisGalicia ~ Gran Fiesta del Marisco (Great Seafood Festival)
Now in its third year the Gran Fiesta de la Marisco is the largest gastronomic event now on tour in Spain.
A large tent is installed in the Turia Gardens under the Bridge of Flowers until Sunday 28 September. The menu offers more than 25 recipes from Galicia and you can enjoy a variety of dishes ranging from seafood rice, cooked beef and Galician octopus feira barnacles.

Volta a Peu XXXVIII
Tenth Circuit Divina Popular Racing, Valencia City begins with Volta a Peu XXXVIII in the neighborhood of Sant Marcel-li on September 14 at 09:00h
The race is sponsored by Divina Pastora Seguros and collaboration of Intersport Serrano, Coca-Cola Foundation, Alfonso Trinidad and Spanish Cancer Association as general partner.

The lovely town of Altea celebrates the annual Moors and Christians festival during the last two weeks in September.
The festival honors the patron saints – Santísimo Cristo del Sagrario and San Blas.
