Day of the Valencian Community

In Valencia this day is know as Nou d’Octubre Celebrations is a public holiday so schools and most businesses are closed.
It coincides with Sant Donis (Sant Dionís Day / St Denis) the patron saint of lovers and is a very romantic day similar to St Valentines Day. Celebrations begin on 8 October with a concert at the Palau de la Música and fireworks in the Turia Gardens riverbed.

Hispanic Day (Día de la Hispanidad) or National Day (Fiesta Nacional de España)
On 12 October everyone celebrates National Day (Fiesta Nacional de España) – an annual national public holiday in Spain that commemorates Christopher Columbus first setting foot in the Americas in 1492. Schools and most businesses are closed.
In 2019 National Day falls on a Saturday so some businesses may choose to follow Saturday opening hours.

What is Valencia Cuina Oberta-Restaurant Week?
A delicious initiative that debuted in 2009 and echoes New York and London’s Restaurant Weeks, when the city’s best restaurants offer exquisite tasting menus at irresistible prices.
During the ten-day Valencia Cuina Oberta-Restaurant Week, Valencia’s most renowned establishments will prepare their gastronomic offerings for €24 for lunch and €30 for dinner (beverages not included).
In the most recent edition, Valencia’s gourmet restaurants offered their menus for €39 for lunch and €45 for dinner (again, beverages not included). Valencia Cuina Oberta is a unique opportunity to enjoy haute cuisine at an unbeatable price.

The Valencia Boat Show celebrates its 11th edition in 2019 with a selection of new boats, engines, accessories, and nautical services on exhibit over five days.
This is great for sailing professionals, but also for families taking a stroll around the port – immerse yourselves in the marine world of this popular area of the city.
Valencia Boat Show is a trade fair set up by and for the nautical industry, and in addition to the extensive range of boats on display it also features other sports, such as surfing, paddle surfing, kayaking and diving . Due to its success, this year an additional 16,000 m2 has been added to the exhibition space.
