The National Day of Valencia is held on the 9 October  and  commemorates the day in 1238 when Jaume I officially entered the city of Valencia.

It is also the day of Sant Dionis who is the patron saint of lovers.

The events for this very special day begin  on 8 October with two days of traditional music and fireworks.  Every year this day is celebrated with fireworks in the Turia Garden and there is also a Mascletà held in Plaza del Ayuntamiento.

Sant Dionísio Day ~  Lover’s Day is celebrated on the same day.

Fiesta Nacional de España (Festa Nacional d’Espanya in Catalan and Valencian) is a public holiday in Spain.  The festival commemorates the anniversary of Christopher Columbus landing in the New World on 12 October 1492.


Gourmet Night Market Ruzafa

Chefs appearing will be Ricard Camarena, Jorge Andrés Rodrigo y Begoña.

Halloween in Valencia

31 October 2014

Not such a big event  as in the US, the UK and other countries and mainly celebrated by families and children at home. Many of the restaurants in Valencia get into the mood with theme events and there are parties held in town.

1 November  – All Saints Day  is a celebration of those who have died.  Families visit the graves of families and friends who have died.
