Visit The Turia Gardens
This is a wonderful place to go for a stroll at any time of the year.
During the summer months the Turia Gardens hosts many open-air events which include Valencia Festival of Films, concerts and the annual open-air cinema.
The Puente de los Flores (bridge of flowers) was built in 2002 and connects the Paseo de la Alameda with Puente del Mar (another lovely bridge) and the Old Town.
Puente de los Flores includes a path for cycling, wooden walkway and benches to sit and enjoy the wonderful view (See Valencia Bridges), or visit the stunning City of Arts and Sciences at the end of the gardens.

Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia
Valencia Opera House (Palau de lese Arts Reina Sofia) is a stunning building created by Valencian architect Santiago Calatrava.
The building is part of the amazing City of Arts and Sciences which can be found at the end of the Turia Gardens.

Valencia Old Town
Take a romantic horse and carriage ride from Plaza de la Reina around the Old Quarter of the city.
Visit one of the many restaurants or cafes and sample the famous chocolate and churros at Valor cafe.
The Horchateria El Siglo and Horchateria Santa Catalina are two of the oldest horcharterias in Valencia located at the end of Plaza de la Reina.
The locals dunk fartones (similar to long iced buns) into the healthy drink of horchata which is made from ground ‘chufas’ (tigernuts), water and sugar.
Horchata and fartones are also sold in supermarkets, patisseries and on stalls throughout the city.

In Plaza del Mercado you will find the famous Mercado Central which stocks an amazing array of fresh produce.
Stalls are stocked with fresh fruit, salads, vegetables and gastronomic delights with countless varieties of cheeses and tapas bars overflowing with goodies.

Barrio del Carmen in the Old Town
Barrio del Carmen (El Carme as it’s locally known), is a very Bohemian area in the Old Town.
During the day you can enjoy wandering around the old streets and enjoy tapas and mussels at one of the local bars such as Bar Pilar .
The San Jaume in Calle Cabelleros has a terrace where you can enjoy a drink. This is one of the best areas for nightlife in the old town.
The area attracts a mixed group of people of all ages including artists, tourists and locals. There are many restaurants, bars and clubs. Also some great places to see a live Flamenco show.

How to get to Valencia beach from the old town? If you are not staying by the sea you can take the No 19 bus from the center of town which will take about 20minutes.
Or you can take the tram from Pont de Fusta, reached via the Pont de Fusta bridge. (See Valencia Bridges)
Head for the newly built America’s Port or the beach at Playa de las Arenas. Whilst there, feast your eyes on the miles and miles of white sandy beaches then wine and dine at one of the lovely beach-side restaurants. In the evening, get to know Valencia on top of one of the Valencia Tourist Buse or visit one of the popular bars and nightclubs .

Festivals in Valencia
San Dionisio day is the equivalent to St Valentine’s Day and is held every year on 9 October (it’s also the National Day of the region of Valencia). To celebrate this very romantic day, Valencianos give colored marzipan ‘mocadorades’ to those they love. It’s also a public holiday.
Las Fallas is always held on 19 March and is the time when the city erupts and starts to party. This can last for about a week.
The annual Valencia July Fair is also a lovely time to visit. In fact any time of the year is a good time to visit because this is such a magical city. If you decide to visit during fiesta time you are sure to have a wonderful time.
