Puerto Soller Majorca
Puerto Soller (Port of Soller) can be reached via the coastal route which passes through the lovely village of Deia. Overlooking the harbor and small beach are colorful houses, hotels and restaurants.
The town of Soller can be reached via the Orange Tram which is one of the most amazing trips on the island.
Tickets are bought on the tram which then travels through orange and lemon groves back to the town. If the tram went a little slower, it would be easy to pick the fruit which dangles in front of you.
The tram travels through the Placa Sa Constitutio, close to the busy cafes which line the square and the church of Sant Bartomeu. Boasting a baroque interior and modernist exterior, the church was designed by a pupil of the famous Antoni Gaudi.
Not far away is the lovely modernist Soller Railway station where you take the Soller train back to Palma . This is a journey not to be missed, the views are stunning and something you’ll never forget. Definitely worth taking, especially if you don’t like heights as the coastal roads can be a little frightening if you’re not used to them.
The town owes it’s wealth to an abundance of orange and lemon trees which grow in this fertile valley. You can enjoy a freshly squeezed orange juice (zumo de naranja) or lemon juice at any one of the lovely cafes. The town also claims to be the birthplace of Columbus.
