Flights to Majorca with budget airlines such as Easy Jet and Ryan Airways are low if you book well in advance. If you’re flying from mainland Spain, Air Europa, Air Berlin, Spanair and Iberia all have regular flights.

The low cost Catalan airline Vueling fly to the islands from Valencia and many other major cities in Spain. Vueling is based in Barcelona with additional hubs in Valencia and Madrid.   Ibiza  is only 107 miles from Valencia. Resident of  the Balearic Islands are usually entitled to a discount on flights when flying  with Vueling.

THE COLÓN MARKET CELEBRATES ITS CENTENARY

Sueca Rice Music Festival 2016

26 August  –  10 September 2016

Every year the Valencian town of Sueca hosts a major festival for over 2 weeks. You can enjoy over  two weeks of partying with bands and disc jockeys, magic shows and exhibitions.

On the last day of the festival,  a giant paella is cooked for all to enjoy.  The competition attracts paella lovers from all over the country.  All the dishes must be cooked with the rice grown in the region of La Albufera (the birthplace of paella) which is just 12km from the center of Valencia.

Gelato Festival in Playa Malvarrosa

15 – 17 July 2016

Lovers of good ice cream are in luck. The Gelato Festival will be on Malvarossa beach until Sunday and this is  it’s only stop in Spain.

There will show-cookings of ice-cream makers and a jury will choose the best ice cream in town, who will participate in the European final of Gelato Festival in Florence. From 17:00 until 01:00 hours you can discover the secrets of ice cream, admission is free.

Fiesta de la Mare de Deu de Valencia (Festival of Our Lady of the Forsaken) is alway held  on the second Saturday/ Sunday in May.

The festival is in honor of Our Lady of the Forsaken, one of the Patron Saints of Valencia.

8 pm ~ Ceremony for the Virgin at the Real Capilla (Royal Chapel).

11 pm Concert by the Municipal Orchestra in the Plaza de la Virgen.

Midnight (00 am) Fireworks display in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento. Followed by the Gran Dansà (the Great Dance) and Cantà d’Albaes (traditional songs) in honour of la Mare de Déu (with the collaboration of the Associació de Cant Valencià) in the Plaza de la Virgen.
